Agatha Christie Murder Mystery

Our new scenic Springtime minibreak takes us to North Yorkshire for an exciting ‘Agatha Christie’ Murder Mystery break at the 4* Old Swan Hotel Harrogate – the very hotel made famous by Agatha Christie herself.

Day 1

Morning collection from your local pick-up point, we head to Knaresborough for some free time. Take a stroll along the Knaresborough viaduct across the River Nidd or have a look at the ruins of Knaresborough Castle. After lunch, we make the short journey to Harrogate and check into the hotel. Enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and lovely garden views at Swan Lounge, located at the heart of the hotel or explore the surrounding areas. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2

Enjoy a hearty breakfast in the hotel. Today, you can either explore Harrogate at your own pace or rejoin our coach. We take an excursion to Pateley Bridge, with numerous quaint local shops and tea rooms which are most welcoming to visitors. No visit to Pateley would be complete without a stop off at England’s Oldest Sweet Shop to stock up on your favourite traditional sweets from childhood. We later journey on to Ilkley, this pretty, traditional spa town offers fine cafes, magnificent countryside and a rock climbers’ paradise with the famous Cow and Calf Rocks sitting proudly above the town, on the rolling Yorkshire moors. After returning to the hotel, relax and refresh before joining us in the restaurant for another delicious evening meal and our ‘Agatha Christie’ murder mystery night!
‘It’s 1926. Stanley Baldwin is Prime Minister and Agatha Christie has disappeared. Would-be writer Agatha Collins has booked a stay in the Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate to finish her first crime novel, but the staff are all convinced she is the other Agatha and one of the hotel guests is about to meet a murky end! This murder has been committed by the book…Agatha Collin’s book. But how has her fictional murder plot come to life?’

Day 3

After breakfast, take advantage of some free time in Harrogate before the return journey home.

The Old Swan Hotel

The Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate combines Victorian splendour with elegant contemporary style and is just a short walk from the town centre. One of the most famous hotels in Harrogate thanks to its romantic past. Once a popular spa, it was the hideaway haven for crime queen, Agatha Christie, when she famously disappeared here in 1926. The hotel is packed with stunning period features, including revolving doors and polished wooden floors. There are elegant reception rooms, including the magnificent Wedgwood restaurant, with its original glass ceiling, or the Swan Lounge & Bar, where you can relax with a drink or a snack overlooking the lawns and views of the town centre.
