Our new tour to Swansea gives us the opportunity to explore the beauty of South Wales. We visit the Gower Peninsula, Britain’s first designated ‘Area of Outstanding Beauty’, the picturesque Victorian seaside village of Mumbles and enjoy a nostalgic train journey.
Join the coach at your local pickup point for a relaxing journey to Swansea. We will make comfort stops en route before arriving at the hotel mid to late afternoon.
We begin the day with free time in Swansea. Take in the sweeping waterfront of Swansea Bay, visit the National Waterfront Museum to learn more about Wales’s maritime history or explore the bustling city centre. In the afternoon we have a coastal drive to Mumbles. This much loved seaside town is steeped in history. The lighthouse, built in 1794, Victorian Pier and Oystermouth Castle are well worth a visit.
Travelling west, we explore Carmarthen, the oldest town in Wales with a popular outdoor market. In the afternoon we make a short drive to Abergwili Junction where we board the Gwili Railway. Get transported back in time as you journey through beautiful countryside, farmland and wooded hillsides whilst enjoying a cream tea. The perfect way to relax and have a treat!
Today we visit the Gower Peninsula. We begin with a guided coach tour and learn more about this ‘Area of Outstanding Beauty’ - from open, wild moors and dramatic limestone cliffs to golden, sandy beaches. We return to the Heritage Centre for an included afternoon tea. We then have a guided tour of the 12th century water mill followed by time at leisure to browse the mill workshops, grounds and museum before returning to the hotel.
After breakfast, we rejoin the coach and make our way home.
This 4* hotel is located on the edge of Swansea with superb lakeside views. After a day of exploring, return to the hotel and relax in one of the spacious 119 guestrooms or enjoy a drink by the roaring fire. All guest rooms feature en suite, TV, free WiFi, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel does not have a lift but does have ground floor rooms on request.
