Ireland & Winterfell
Ireland & Winterfell

Ireland has always been steeped in history, myth and legend – and with the world-wide phenomenon that is Game of Thrones having made a home there, it’s no surprise that fantasy lovers the world over are clamouring to visit the Emerald Isle! On this brand-new tour, you’ll be able to visit the set of Winterfell, as well as two of Ireland’s top attractions; HMS Caroline, and The Crumlin Gaol! You’ll spend 4 days in this beautiful country, with chance to explore Belfast and immerse yourself in the culture of this amazing part of the world!

    Day 1

After a morning departure from your local pick-up point, you’ll head north to Cairnryan, where you’ll board the ferry to Belfast. After the crossing, you’ll re-join the coach and head to your hotel.

    Day 2

After a delicious Irish breakfast, you’ll head into Belfast to the HMS Caroline. A unique survivor of WWI, Belfast’s newest visitor attraction has been extensively restored, allowing you to see the ship as she would have been in 1916. Caroline is the last remaining Naval Cruiser from the Great War, and the sole survivor of the Battle of Jutland. You’ll be able to explore the ship – from the cabins, to the Engine Room and Sick Bay, before watching a dynamic film about the drama and devastation of a battle at sea!

In the afternoon, you’ll visit The Crumlin Road Gaol. Often considered to be Europe’s answer to Alcatraz (despite numerous successful escapes), Crumlin Road Goal has over 150 years of history for you to discover; from executions and escapes, to Suffragettes and IRA bombings. Opened in 1845, the prison was once considered to be the one of the most advanced prisons of its time – it used the ‘Separate System’ which kept prisoners isolated and unable to communicate with one another (however, heavy over-crowding in the 20th century meant that many prisoners were forced to live together in small cells). You’ll be able to see the cramped cells the prisoners lived in, walk through the tunnel which connected the prison to the court-house and the Hanging Cell on a guided tour which shows you all the secrets of this infamous prison.

    Day 3

You’ll need to make sure you’ve got your sword and your Dragon-glass for today! You’ll visit Caste Ward, the real-life location of Winterfell. The Game of Thrones tour will take you to 2o filming locations around the castle and grounds, and truly allows you to walk in the footsteps of the most famous family in Westeros. The tour includes behind-the-scenes footage of filming at Castle Ward, as well as a detailed look at the camera and visual effects trickery used to bring the Stark family home to life! In the afternoon, you’ll return to Belfast where you’ll have time to explore this dynamic city!

    Day 4

After checking out of the hotel, you’ll re-join the coach for the journey home, arriving late afternoon to your drop-off point.
