Llandudno
Llandudno

Northern Wales is a beautiful place, steeped in history, myth and legend. The mountains of Snowdonia National park provide a stunning backdrop to already pristine countryside, with beautiful beaches and a fascinating ancient culture, this area of Wales is well-worth a visit.

This tour takes in three of Northern Wales’ most interesting and beautiful towns; Llandudno, a Victorian coastal resort, Caernarfon, home of the breath-taking Caernarfon Castle, and Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch – a small town with a very big name!

    Day 1

After a morning pick-up from your local departure point, you’ll journey to Wales, stopping briefly in Chester along the way. You’ll arrive in Llandudno in the late-afternoon and head to your hotel to settle in.

    Day 2

You’ll have a full day to explore Caernarfon – its mighty castle overlooks the town, proclaiming in no un-certain terms the intentions of King Edward I when he conquered Wales. The Castle was begun in 1283, and its imposing architecture, with its unique polygon towers, intimidating battlements and colour banded masonry, was designed to reflect the walls of Constantinople, and the Dream Castle of Welsh legend. It’s well worth a visit, and is also home to the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, Wales’ oldest Regiment.

    Day 3

You’ll start the day in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. Why not visit the railway station and get a picture with the longest place name in Britain, as well as the James Pringle Weavers’ shop which is next to the station and is stocked with all manner of knit-wear as well as Welsh crafts and gifts. If you fancy a bit of a climb, then why not visit the Marquess of Anglesey’s Column – it was erected in 1816 as a tribute to the Marquess who had lost a leg in the battle of Waterloo. You can climb up the 115 steps to the top, from where you’ll have an absolutely fantastic view of the surrounding area.

In the afternoon, you’ll return to Llandudno; depending on the weather, you might enjoy a stroll along the promenade or else take an open-top sight-seeing tour to really take in all the sights on offer.

Day 4 (5 day tour only)

You’ll have the full day in Llandudno, so why not play a round of Golf at the Great Orme Family Golf course, or delve underground with a tour of the Ancient Llandudno Mines – the mines were uncovered in the 80s and were one of the most startling archaeological discoveries of recent times. Dating back over 4000 years to the Bronze age, they actually changed the opinions of historians regarding the ancient people of Britain before the Roman Conquest. However, it should be noted that those with little legs or mobility issues will have to negotiate 35 steps.

    Day 4 or 5

After breakfast, you’ll board the coach and head back to England, making comfort stops along the way.

    St Kilda Hotel

The St Kilda Hotel is located in the centre of the Llandudno Promenade, directly opposite the Bandstand. Its only five minutes from the main shopping centres, Pier and Theatre, and overlooks the beach and the Irish Sea.
