Drams & Dances

Enjoy a break to the West Coast of Scotland where you will be treated to traditional Scottish entertainment with a festive theme.

    Day 1

Morning departure from your local pickup point to Oban. On arrival at the hotel we will receive a warm Scottish welcome. Gather for a drinks reception whilst listening to the Highland Bagpipes being played.

    Day 2

Full day excursion to Inveraray. Overlooking the still waters of Loch Fyne, Inveraray is a traditional county town of Argyll. It was built on the site of an earlier fishing village in the mid 1700s by the 3rd Duke of Argyll. He demolished the original village to give his rebuilt castle more space, and rehoused the population in a new town that is one of the most attractive in Scotland. The new town was built on a site to the south than its predecessor, out of sight of the castle. What emerged was an exceptionally attractive town. This evening we enjoy a pre-drinks reception of Mulled Wine then enjoy a delicious 3 course carvery dinner followed by an evening of Scottish entertainment.

    Day 3

Day at leisure in Oban. Return to the hotel in the afternoon for a scrumptious afternoon tea with tea/coffee, a glass of fizz and fresh home baking in the Lounge Bar with a Whisky Galore Bingo & Quiz- prizes to be won. A tasty dinner will be followed by an evening of dancing and singing with Argyll’s top musical act.

    Day 4

Today we take a scenic journey along Loch Linnhe to Fort William. There's plenty to do in Fort William - the West Highland Museum in the centre of the town is excellent, while St Andrew's Church, towards the north end of the main street, has a very attractive interior. Also well worth a look is St Mary's Catholic Church and no visit should be considered complete without a look at the Old Fort on the shore of Loch Linnhe. We return to the hotel for a full Highland Banquet followed by an evening of Entertainment and Dancing with the Strathmore Ceilidh Band and the Legendry Torquil Telfer on the bagpipes– make sure you get your group to bring some tartan!

    Day 5

We bid a fond farewell to Oban and retrace our journey home.

    Royal Hotel

The Royal Hotel stands in the centre of Oban close to the harbour. The central position makes it ideal for visiting the West Coast of Scotland. Built in 1895 the 3 Star AA awarded hotel offers traditional Scottish hospitality within quality modern surroundings. Due to the age and nature of this grand old building all bedrooms are individual in size and shape but all have as standard - en-suite bathrooms, television, hairdryer, direct dial telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has a lift but as a result of the age of the building there are some period features that might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.
