Cambridge & National Stud

Take a trip to Newmarket – the home of horseracing! The highlight of the break is a visit to National Stud, a working thoroughbred stud farm. You also get to see the Stallion Unit, with the opportunity to see the stallions in their paddocks or going about their daily work, as well as visiting various yards and paddocks where you can watch the mares and foals grazing and enjoying the sunshine.

    Day 1

Morning departure to Cambridge. Abounding with exquisite architecture, exuding history and tradition and renowned for its quirky rituals, Cambridge is a university town extraordinaire. There’s something for everyone here. You can go punting on the River Cam, enjoy a picnic in the park, join a walking tour of the city or explore further afield from the seat of a bicycle following the excellent network of cycle paths in and around the city.

    Day 2

We begin the day with a 90 minute tour of the National Stud. The National Stud is the only stud in the UK open to the public. Meet the mares and see the magnificent stallions. After the tour we travel to nearby National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art. The centre features three attractions – a new National Horseracing Museum, a National Art Gallery of British Sporting Art and a chance to meet former racehorses in the flagship home of Retraining of Racehorses.
