During April 2012, Southampton will be where the world gathers to mark 100 years since the Titanic set sail on its ill-fated maiden voyage. There will be two new permanent galleries focusing on; Southampton as a Gateway to the World, recounting the stories of people who have departed from or arriving in the port of Southampton, and Southampton’s Titanic Story, focusing on the hidden story of RMS Titanic’s crew.

Day One
Morning departure from you local joining point to Oxford. Here you will have free time for lunch before continuing onto the hotel.

Day Two
Today we visit Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and include admission to the Mary Rose Museum, HMS Victory and HMS Warrior. The museum has an excellent collection of personal, domestic and military objects, as well as a special re-construction of how the ship’s bosun would have looked at the time. HMS Victory is the Royal Navy’s most famous warship and HMS Warrior 1860, once the pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet, is the world’s first iron-hulled, armoured warship powered by steam as well as sail.

Day Three
After breakfast we visit Southampton Maritime Museum. The museum has exhibitions telling the story of Titanic’s crew, helping you to discover the jobs they did, how they felt about the new ‘superliner’ and their vivid recollections of the night the Titanic struck the iceberg.

Day Four
Following a leisurely breakfast we depart the hotel for the return journey making a stop in Winchester.
